NOAH Charity:
By way of celebrating their 5th anniversary, Orbichem remembered those less fortunate who had not enjoyed the 5 years of growth and success that they had. Hence they made a substantial donation to the NOAH Charity for Aids Orphans in KZN. Persons wanting to donate to the Noah Charity can contact the organisation on 031 561 3190.
NOAH charity on behalf of Orbichem, its customers and suppliers. The cheque was handed over to Noah co-founder, Dr Greg Ash and his wife Jacqui at a prize-giving dinner held at the Durban CC after the golf day for clients and suppliers.
Excelsior High School - Belhar:On 8 February 2007, Cliff and Erin Classen from Orbichem Petrochemicals paid a visit to Kleinmond where the Matric class of Excelsior High School was staying as part their Gr. 12 camp. The aim of the visit was for Cliff to motivate the young people for the tough year which lay ahead and deliver a few surprise gifts.
The learners were clearly inquisitive and eager to find out what was behind the visit and, without hesitation, Cliff jumped right into his motivational talk. The talk was not only interactive but inspirational. The students learnt about the power of self-belief and how hard work and dedication can reap great benefits. The students enjoyed the talk and certainly felt motivated to tackle their final year of school with a spirit of determination. But there was a surprise in store for them. Cliff and Erin presented the Matrics with a cheque for R5000 as a donation towards their Matric Dance. The Gr.12 learners are responsible for raising the necessary funds for their Matric Dance
so they were ecstatic for the much-needed jumpstart to their fundraising activities. A second cheque for R5000 was presented to the school as prize money for the top Gr.12 learner. Along with Erin's cash donation of R1000, the top Matric pupil of Excelsior High will receive R6000 on the day the Senior Certificate Examination results are released.Once the cheques were handed over and photos had been taken, many of the pupils had the opportunity to speak to both Erin and Cliff. A number of students conveyed their thanks for the donations and it was truly heart-warming to see how much this act of kindness meant to these young learners. Orbichem is proud to support Excelsior High School as part of its CSI programme and look forward to visiting the school in December to award the top student his/her prize.
